Walter F. Jones

Walter F. Jones, 81, of Waterville, passed away peacefully at home with his loving companion and daughter by his side following a lengthy illness on Friday, May 3, 2024. He was born September 12, 1942, to Betty Furner Jones and George Sam Jones of North Brookfield, NY. He was raised in North Brookfield and attended North Brookfield Union School and Waterville Central School.

Walter was employed by Central Asphalt/Suit Kote in New Hartford for many years. He also worked for the Town of Hamilton Highway Department. In 2008 he retired as the Highway Superintendent.   

Walter was a dedicated worker and a very well-respected member of the community. He loved riding motorcycle, hunting, working outside on his lawn, spending time with friends and family, and tinkering in his garage.

He is survived by his daughter Patricia (Fred) Kiehn of Port Charlotte, FL and their children Leeann (Daniel) Beeman of Cazenovia and Gregory Casler (Magenta Kennedy) also of Cazenovia.; his brother and best friend Douglas (Ellen) Jones of Winfield, NY; brothers, Samuel Jones of Greenbrier, AR and Bruce Jones of Dover, AR;  his companion of 24 years, Dee Elliott, and her children Diane (Patrick) Hill of Waterville and Michael (Megan) Elliott of Ontario, NY; lifelong friends Bob Cross and John Warner and sons Bob Jones and Bruce Jones. He is also survived by many grandchildren, great grandchildren, special nieces and nephews.

Walter was predeceased by his parents and his brother, Rodney Jones.
