Stephen R. "Steve" Salata

Steve Salata Jr.

Waterville-Steve R. Salata Jr, 73, passed away on Wednesday, October 26, 2022, at Faxton-St. Luke’s Hospital, with the love and support of his family at his side.

He was born in Oneonta, on September 9, 1949, the son of the late Steve R. Salata Sr. and Jeannie Hughes Salata.  Raised in Oneonta, Steve graduated from Trinity-Pawling School.  He furthered his education by graduating with a Bachelor Degree from Arizona State University. Both in high school and in college, Steve excelled in baseball.  After college, he had played for various farm teams to include: the Arizona Diamond Backs, the Boston Red Sox, and the Chicago Cubs.  Steve carried his love for baseball throughout his entire life.  He also was an amazing golfer. Steve’s work career was with Bonide and Titan Homes. He so enjoyed working at both companies.  His big smile and easy disposition would brighten anyone’s day.

He leaves behind his wife Mary; his children: Megan Noppenberg, Sarah Salata, Laura Hartz, and Anna Hutson, and his stepson Chad (Jaclyn) Misiaszek; his beloved grandchildren: Jack Miranda, Lucus Noppenburg, Lacey Noppenburg, Jaydynn Hartz, Benjamin Hartz, Jonathan Hartz, Luke Hartz, Daniel Hartz, Lizzy Saylor, Mason Saylor, Tyler Hutson, Paxton Hutson, Wesley Hutson, Journnee Salata, Miles Misiaszek, and Marley Misiaszek; and his brother Paul Salata.  Steve leaves behind nieces, nephews and close friends.

Steve was predeceased by his beloved daughter Bethany Miranda, his parents Steve Sr. and Jeannie, and his brother David Salata.
