Sophie Marie WiswellSophie Marie Wiswell, of Brookfield, passed away July 8, 2019 with her family by her side.Born on December 12, 1933, she was the daughter of Joseph and Pauline Grabowski Homa of Richfield Springs, NY. Sophie worked for GE in Utica for several years. She worked for 25 years at Breakstone/Kraft in South Edmeston, as a Machine Operator. During retirement she filled her time with crocheting and spending time with her family. She always looked for a good garage sale. She knew she would find something interesting for one of her kids or grandkids.Sophie is survived by her husband, Bill, of 66 years and their four children, William Wiswell (Luann), Dolores Elliott (Walter), Elaine Rogers and Mark Wiswell (Jan). Eight grandchildren: Diane (Patrick), Michael (Megan), Jeffrey, Steven, Alicia, Andrea, Brie and Cassandra. Eight great grandchildren: Alana, Madelyn, Natalie H., Elizabeth, Thomas, Natalie K., Ethan and Sophia. Siblings: Wanda Galusha, Karen Bloomfield, Elaine Roman and David Homa.Sophie was predeceased by her parents, 2 infant children, 7 siblings and several brothers and sisters-in-laws. Sophie will always be remembered for her kind heart, gentle spirit, and special grace. She had a joyous, uncontrolled laughter that was contagious. Four of her sayings that the family heard many times..." Are you hungry", "I can do it", "I'm OK" and "Who are you going to laugh at when I'm gone?" She will be missed by her family and so many special friends.Thank you to so many people who sent beautiful letters and cards of condolence, the donations of food, visits with the family and most importantly, support with generous hugs.A special thank you to the men and women of the Brookfield Fire Department and the Bridgewater Ambulance.
