Shirley M. RichmondCanastota-Shirley M. Richmond, 83, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, November 11, 2020, with the love and support of her family by her side, at the Oneida Healthcare Center.She was born in Oneida on December 18, 1936, the daughter of the late Frederick E. and Gladys L. Kimball Meyers. Shirley was raised in Oneida and was a graduate of Oneida High School. She married James L. Richmond on June 25, 1955. James predeceased Shirley in 1983. She had worked for several years for Jackson Hewitt in Oneida as a Tax Preparer. The greatest part of her life was spent as a homemaker caring for her family. Shirley was a proud mother, grandmother and great grandmother. Her love of family will always be with all she leaves behind.Shirley is survived her brother Frederick Meyers of Canastota; her daughter Pamela Carter of Durhamville; her sons James (Lisa) Richmond of Vernon and Allen (Kristen) Richmond of Blossvale; her beloved grandchildren: Lindsay (Noel) Ames, Sarah (Joshua) Paul, Samantha (Joseph) VanLieshout, Shannon Richmond, Matthew Richmond, Collin Richmond and Cassidy Richmond; her beloved great grandchildren: Morgan Ames, Rylee Langheinrich, Ava Langheinrich, Janna Paul, Jaxton Paul, Layla VanLieshout, Isabella VanLieshout, Joseph VanLieshout, Alaina Boris and Chase Boris.She was predeceased by her parents, Fred and Gladys, her husband Jim, her long-time companion of 18 years, Sam Kellum, her sister -in-law Genevive Meyers and her beloved granddaughter Jamie Richmond.Funeral services were held on Monday, November 16, 2020 from from the Coolican-McSweeney Funeral Home, 322 Washington Avenue, Oneida, under the direction of Jeffrey T. Paul, Funeral Director. Interment was made in Stockbridge Cemetery.
