Shirley M. GoodrichGeorgetown-Shirley M. Goodrich, 78, passed away peacefully, with the love and support of her family at her side, on Friday, February 9, 2018, at Bassett Hospital.Shirley was born at her family home, on February 26, 1939 in the Town of Pompey, the daughter of the late Vernon and Francis Welch Scott. As a young girl, she attended school in Delphi Falls, and later, graduated from Cazenovia High School. She met and was smitten by a young man named Carl Goodrich from Georgetown NY. She married her soul mate in the Town of Pompey on March 26, 1961. They moved to California while Carl was serving in the US Air Force; later returning to Georgetown, NY to grow and raise their family. Shirley was a member of the Georgetown Fire Department Ladies Auxiliary, and the Ladies Auxiliary of the Perry Cook American Legion Post 973, of South Otselic. Shirley was a skilled seamstress, who enjoyed making clothing and other items for her children, later her grandchildren, and others that might be in need. She especially enjoyed sharing her love of sewing by volunteering her time at the Madison County ARC in Oneida helping to teach individuals with special needs how to sew. She took pride in showcasing her homemade items at local craft fairs in her community. Shirley deeply loved her grandchildren, and any infant child, that was in her presence. She felt that each child was a gift from God, and she blessed them with her love, as she held them. She will be deeply missed by all who love her. She was devoted wife, mother, grandmother, and friend, who always put others before herself.She is survived by her beloved husband of 56 years, Carl, her cherished children; Nancy Goodrich, of Oneida, Franklin Goodrich, and his fiancée, Debby Emlen, of Manlius, Steven Goodrich, and his wife, Laurie, of Edmeston, and Linda Slate, and her husband, Charles, of Plymouth; her pride and joy, her grandchildren, whom she dearly loved, Ryan and Erika Goodrich, Danielle, Kristen, and Alexis Slate, Aaron and Aiden Goodrich; her brother, Walter Scott, of Pompey; her sister and brother-in-law, Edith and Lee Hobart, of Clarksville, GA, along with her brother and sister in laws; Carmen "Jack" and Shirley Goodrich, Clyde and Suzanne Goodrich, and Stephen and Amy Markowski, numerous nieces, nephews, and close friends.Funeral services for Shirley will be held on Thursday, February 15, 2018, at 6:00 PM, at the Paul Funeral Home of Madison, with Rev. Terry Ramsey, Pastor, of the First Baptist Church, officiating. Spring interment will be in Hawk Cemetery, Georgetown. Family and friends are invited to attend calling hours on Thursday, at the funeral home, from 4-6 PM, prior to the funeral service.
