Shari A. Ramsey Obituary

Shari Ramsey, 64 of Floyd passed away on Sunday, May 17th at home surrounded by her family. Shari grew up in Waterville, often reminiscing on the memories of growing up there. Shari would later graduate from Waterville High school in 1979.

Shari went to be with the Lord after her brave fight against lung cancer—an enemy she faced head-on, while also fighting her own anxieties with courage every step of the way. Even in her final moments, she showed everyone around her inspiring strength.

Shari was born on November 14, 1961 to the late Ralph Conte and is survived by her loving mother Sandy Conte. Her unforgettable spirit will be carried on by her husband of almost 40 years, John Ramsey, whom she met at Fulton Speedway in the 80’s, being inseparable ever since. You could find her managing their small business of John's Auto Restoration for decades. Bringing organization, meticulous detail and her strong personality while always keeping John in line!
Her two children, whom she would continuously express her pride in, Amy Chavis, always showing off her admiration of her flower gardens. Shari and Amy were often found together and considered to be each other's best friend. Her son, Michael Walton, whom she felt so proud of and had such contentment knowing how his hard work and dedication in his shock dyno business, amongst being a big part of promoting Utica Rome Speedway has given him such success. She showed much praise for him. She also loved her sister Michele Conte, with many unforgettable memories lasting a lifetime. Shari felt blessed and thankful for her son in law Matt Chavis and daughter in law Annmarie Walton, and grew much comfort in knowing her children were content, loved and cared for. Her memory will also be honored by her grandchildren, Rylin Turley and his girlfriend Danielle Kimball, Wyatt and Colt Kimball whom she loved and supported more than words. Her Aunt and Uncle, Robin and Sue Conte were dear to her heart, her cousin Dana Conte. Brother in Law Randy Ramsey, wife Julie Ramsey, Wayne Ramsey, Jerome Ramsey and Chuck Coleman and wife Fiona Coleman, nephews Cory Abrams, Jeremy and Aidan Coleman. Nieces Chelsea Lallier and the late Jordyn Ramsey.
Her sweet pitbull Millie, and Tori her “pain in the butt” cat will also miss her presence dearly.

Shari was beautiful inside and out, carried herself with class, always looking flawless, coordinated, well put together, and held a presence that would pull you near. She took pride in keeping her belongings pristine. She spoke her mind no matter who was listening or where she was. People always knew where they stood with her, and that authenticity was one of the many things those who loved her admired most. The kind of woman who stood up for the people she loved and never pretended to be anything other than herself. Her generosity knew no limits, and her attention to detail showed in everything she did. Shari easily touched the lives of many with her untamed sense of humor.  She had a generous heart and possessed an uncanny ability to connect to just about anyone leaving behind a forever memory.

Undoubtedly, you would find Shari spending summers outdoors soaking up the sunshine, working on her beautiful tan while listening to her music in the background. Her oldest grandson Rylin, who called her “Memo” now known to many as “Nemo” was often by her side playing their favorite songs over and over. Even the neighbors would learn to know the songs!

One of her greatest joys was supporting her family at their sporting events, whether it was at the drag races or on the dirt track, football or basketball, you could count on her encouragement. You would know she was present cheering on proudly, never missing the opportunity to encourage the people she loved the most.

Above all, Shari loved deeply and fiercely. Her strength, stubborn spirit, laughter, and love for her family will never be forgotten. Though hearts are broken by her loss, her memory will continue to live on in every song played loud, every summer sunset, and every lap around the track.

The family would like to express special appreciation to Margaret Bielby for spending her Wednesday's with Shari during her final months on Hospice care. Your selflessness will never be forgotten. Also to her sweet friend Tami Stevens who showed her love and brightened in her last days. The kindness of Jason Broedel and April LaMunion, Jim and Shelley Bray. To all the many friends and family who reached out, sending cards and messages of concern throughout her fight. A sincere thank you.

Visiting will be held for family and friends at the Methodist Church 214 Madison Street in Waterville, on May 27th from 4-6p. A brief service to follow. Reverend Rebecca Guthrie, Pastor, officiating. Compassionate and personal care is being provided for Shari and her family by Jeffrey T. Paul, Director of the Paul Funeral Home of Madison.

In lieu of flowers, Shari would have loved for any donations to be made to the Rome Humane Society to help animals in need. Please visit: https://humanesocietyrome.com/donate-2/  to donate.
