Rosemary S. Jones
Oriskany Falls-Rosemary S. Jones, 90, passed away peacefully on Saturday, December 30, 2023, at home with her loving family by her side.
She was born on in Syracuse on July 30, 1933, daughter of the late Frances (Red) and Agnes Quigg Senecal. As a young child, Rosemary’s family moved to Oriskany Falls, where she attended and graduated from Oriskany Falls Union Free High School, Class of 1950. She furthered her education by attending business school and Mohawk Valley Community College. Rosemary had begun her working career for the Bendex Corporation of Utica. On August 23, 1958, at St. Joseph's Church in Oriskany Falls, Rosemary was united in marriage to Donald W. Jones. Their loving union lasted for 49 years until Donald’s sudden passing on April 12,2007. Rosemary and Don operated a small dairy farm in Augusta prior her return to the workforce in 1971 after all 4 of her children attended elementary school. Prior to her marriage, Rosemary had worked for the Bendex Corporation of Utica; she was the head baker at Colgate University for more than 20 years. Rosemary worked until her retirement from the Federal Reserve Bank of New York in Oriskany where she had formed some lifelong friendships. She was a farmer’s wife, balancing her employment, raising her children, caring for the family home, and even helping with farm chores. Rosemary especially enjoyed Christmas and the Fourth of July, as these holidays always produced special memories of her family. She had a great sense of humor and a zest for life. She was an inspiration to all; her love and wisdom will be cherished by all for eternity.
Rosemary is survived by her children David (Pat) Jones of Solsville, Jim (Shannon) Jones of Oriskany Falls, Alan (Roberta) Jones of Oriskany Falls, and Lois Luchsinger of Oriskany Falls; nine cherished grandchildren: William (Carrie) Jones, Paul (Jennie) Jones, Keith Jones, Laura (Brandon) Pettit of Michigan, Jerry (Alex) Luchsinger, Jessica (Brian) King of Waterville, Anthony (Amanda) Jones, Jennifer (Steve) Jones-Engle, and Tyler Jones; her beloved and cherish great grandchildren: Johnny, Oliver, Matthew, Grace, Gabe, Myles, Aleah, Leo, Fritz, Brandon, Serenity, and Drake; special niece and nephew; Susan (Ken) and Michael Clark. Special cousin Barbara Martin. Several nieces, nephews and cousins. Very dear friends Carol Legacy, Robert Howard and Glenn Costello.
She was predeceased by her beloved husband Don, her parents Frances and Agnes Senecal, stepsisters Patricia Y Minnoe and Marilyn Chow.
Family and friends are invited to attend calling hours on Saturday, January 6, 2024, from 3 PM until 5 PM at the Paul Funeral Home of Madison. Funeral services will immediately follow the calling hours. There will be a celebration of Rosemary’s life to be held at the Kelley-Phillips American Legion Post in Oriskany Falls following the funeral service. Interment will be private and at the convenience of the family. Personal and professional care is being provided her family by Jeffrey T. Paul, Director of the Paul Funeral Home of Madison. The family wishes express a heartfelt thank you to Dr. Lee of Syr Gastro, Dr Ahgelli of Hematology, Dr. Nathan Kever and Linda Keever, NP and staff for the care and compassion shown to our mom. Also, a special thank you to Mary, Deb, Ann and Stacy for their kindness and compassion towards our mom and her family, especially Rosemary's daughter Lois who has been her full time Caregiver for the last 6 years. Also, to son Jim and his wife Shannon for being there every day, during this very difficult time.
