Ronald A. MaineClinton-Ronald A. Maine, 89, a life resident of Madison, passed away peacefully on Monday, March 1, 2021, at the Lutheran Care Center where he had been a resident for the last four years.Ron was born into a large family in Waterville on September 23, 1931, the son of the late Leon and Margery Blair Maine. Ron was raised in Tinker Hollow, leaving to serve in the Army. Upon his return home, he started his dairy farm on Center Road. He prospered as a farmer. Ron was always proud of the care and love he gave to his farm animals. He was also proud of his ability to work his fields and grow bountiful crops to be harvested. He married Betty Polisse and together they had four beloved children. Betty lost a courageous battle against cancer at the age of 51. Ron stayed on caring for his family, cattle, and crops; until the day he decided it was time to retire. He moved to the Saint Petersburgh, FL. He enjoyed all that Saint Petersburg had to offer, and especially the beautiful weather. Outside, Ron was a man larger than life, he was tall, and built rugged to handle the demands of farming, but inside, was a kind and gentle man that loved his family, Country, and God.He leaves behind his beloved daughter and care giver, Jackie Haley of Oneida; his sons: David (Sarah) Maine of Solsville, Michael (Celeste) Maine of Canastota, and Timothy (Cathy) Maine of Utica; his daughter Margaret "Peggy" (Robert) Patchen of Watertown; his sisters: Midge Wratten of Sangerfield, Charlotte Snyder of North Brookfield, Arlene Maine Card of Utica; several beloved grandchildren; great grandchildren; several nieces and nephews. Ron was pre deceased by his parents Leon and Margery, brothers: Bud, Bill, and Charlie; and his sisters Dorothy Young and Belle Keith.Funeral services with Military Honors will be held in the spring. Interment will be made in Madison Village Cemetery. Ron's care has been entrusted to the care of the Paul Funeral Home of Madison.
