Robert D. Peckham 

Madison-Robert D. Peckham , 91, passed away peacefully at the Abraham House, on Saturday, January 14, 2023.

Bob was a lifelong resident having been born on June 15, 1931 at the family home in Solsville.  He was the son of the late Harry S. and Lula Mae Buckley Peckham. He graduated from Madison High School Class of 1951.  Following high school, Bob proudly served in the United States Air Force during the Korean War. Also in 1952, he married Norine Thompson. Together, they raised their family in Solsville and lived happily, until Norine’s passing in 1993. Bob had worked for Mohawk Containers for 40 years.  He had started there as a production laborer, and worked his way up to management.  He retired as Senior Logistics Manager.   He was a member of the Madison American Legion. On April 12, 2008, at the Madison United Methodist Church, Bob married Donna Stowell.  He was very active in the Madison Community. Bob had served as a Town of Madison Councilman.  He was deeply devoted to the Madison United Methodist Church.  He held positions to include: Trustee, Lay Minister, Sunday School Teacher, and Sunday School Superintendent.  He was also a member of the Pleasant Valley Grange.  Most of all, Bob was a cornerstone or the rock of the family, not only to his children, but to many of his nieces and nephews and other members of the Peckham and Hayduke families.  Bob will be missed by all.

He is survived by his wife Donna; his daughter Claudia Abrams and her companion Leslie Thornton of Oneida; his stepchildren: Gretchen Crandall of Daytona, FL, Lisa Beacraft of Little Falls, Kim Shaut and her husband, Robert of St. Johnsville, and Charles Colella, of Unadilla; five grandchildren and many great and great- great grandchildren.  There are numerous nieces and nephews that survive Bob. 

Bob was predeceased by his parents Harry and Lula; his beloved son Robert Peckham Jr. and K. Peckham, his beloved daughter Susan Peckham; beloved granddaughter Sarah Peckham; his siblings: Augusta Peckham, Grant Peckham, Ronald Peckham, Charles Peckham, Roger “Pete” Peckham, Effa DePuy, Ida Williams, Anna Jean Hughes, Dorothy Hayduke, and Jack Peckham.

Bob’s funeral will be held on Friday, January 20, 2023 at 1PM at the Madison United Methodist Church, with the Rev. Wayne Grow, officiating.  Spring interment will be made with Military Honors in Madison Village Cemetery.  There will be calling hours from 11 AM until 1 PM, prior to the service, at the church, located on State Route 20 in the Village of Madison. Bob and his family are being personally care for by Jeffrey T.
