Robert F. "Brock" BrockwayOriskany Falls-Robert F. "Brock" Brockway, 87, a life resident, passed away on Wednesday, September 28, 2016, at the VA Medical Center, Syracuse, with his loving wife and children at his side, following a lengthy illness.He was born in Utica on October 9, 1928, the son of the late Hiram and Irene Wilson Brockway. Bob attended Clinton High School, then entered the Air Force in 1946. On October 22, 1949 in Scribner, NB, Bob married Joan B. Schulz. He had worked as a foreman for Bekins Van Lines, of Clinton, and Allied Van Lines, of Utica. Bob retired in 1972 with numerous years of service. In his retirement, Bob had worked as a custodian at the former Oriskany Falls High School. He had also served as the Manager for the Oliver Apartment Complex located in Oriskany Falls. Bob was a proud veteran, who was a life member and Past Commander of both the Kelley-Phillips American Legion Post, 569, of Oriskany Falls and the Schilling, Burns, and Young VFW Post, 959, of Clinton. Most of all, Bob will be remembered as devoted family man, loving husband, father, and grandfather and great grandfather.Bob is survived by his loving wife of 65 years, Joan; his daughter, Tammy Guzman, of Rome; three sons and daughters-in-law, William and Noelle Brockway, of Monroe, NC, Michael and Laurie Brockway, of Sauquoit, and James and Dianna Brockway, of Land of the Lakes, FL; many grandchildren and great grandchildren. A special friend, Bob Peckham, of Madison, along with several nieces and nephews survive Bob.He was predeceased by his parents, a brother, and two sisters.Bob's family would like to thank the Doctors, Nurses, and staff members of the Syracuse VA Medical Center. Your level of care and the compassion of care for Bob will never be forgotten.Funeral services with Military Honors will be held on Saturday, October 8, 2016 at 1 PM at the Paul Funeral Home of Madison, with the Rev. Jack Ford, officiating. Interment will be in Hillside Cemetery, Oriskany Falls. There will be a visitation at the funeral home from 11AM-1PM, prior to the service.
