Peter L. PeckhamMadison-Peter L. Peckham, 79, a life resident of Madison, passed away peacefully on Friday, July 27,2018, with the love and support of his son, daughter-in-law, and family, at his side, at St. Elizabeth's Medical Center, following a lengthy illness. Peter was born on the family farm, in Madison, on April 26, 1939, the son of the late Roger and Anita Martel Peckham. Pete graduated from Madison High School. Peter proudly served his country in the Air Force during the Vietnam War. Following his military service, Pete spent his working career as a Refrigeration Technician for the Victory Markets grocery store chain. He entered retirement upon the chain stores closing. Always fascinated with flying, Peter was a private pilot and avid hang gliding pilot. He also was a passionate snowmobiler. Peter was a member of the American Legion and Madison United Methodist Church. Most of all, he was a devoted father and grandfather who cherished every moment with his family.He is survived by his beloved son and daughter-in-law, Rick and Megan Peckham, of Madison; his cherished grandchildren, Dylan and Faith Peckham; his brothers, and sisters-in-law, Jack and Geralyn Peckham, of Madison, and Tom and Barbara Peckham, also of Madison; his sister-in-law, Sharon Peckham, of Oriskany Falls; his aunt, and Lucy Boratyn, of Madison. Numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins also survive Peter.Peter was predeceased by his parents, Roger and Anita; his brother, Jim, and his sister, Susan. Peter's family extend heartfelt thanks to St. Elizabeth's Medical Center's ICU nurses and doctors for the wonderful care and support given to Peter.Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, August 1, 2018 at 2pm, at the Madison United Methodist Church, with the Rev. Gary Spraker, Pastor, officiating. Interment will be in Madison Village Cemetery. There will be a visitation at the church from Noon-2 PM, prior to the service.
