Patrick W. Strain, 46, of Madison, NY, passed away peacefully on October 22nd, 2018, in thecomfort of the Hospice & Palliative Care Siegenthaler Center with his family by his side.Patrick was born on January 19th,1972 in Utica, son of Walter Strain and Charlene Clive. Hegraduated from Clinton High School in 1990. It was then that his passion for serving hiscommunity began, along with his nickname of Moochie. He served 25 years, starting in 1993,with the Madison Fire Department. He was also very passionate about EMS and devoted agreat amount of his life to helping others with various local ambulance services including,Vineall, COCVAC and SOMAC.He was a hardcore New York Yankees fan, always made everyone laugh, and was frequentlycaught playing jokes on everyone around him. He enjoyed spending time with his children,being surrounded by family and friends, and playing cards with his Dad. His last few monthswere filled with making memories and enjoying a RailRiders baseball game with his family, atrip to Philadelphia to visit his niece, trips to Scranton with his dad and, as much time withfamily as he could get. His courage and strength are traits that everyone around him admiredand will never forget.He was predeceased by his son Zachary in 2002 and his mother Charlene in 2004. Left tocherish his memory are his children, Ashley and Timothy Strain; father, Walter Strain; sisters,Roberta McCormick (Michael Cook) and Crystal Strain (Paul Bikowsky); nieces and nephews,Sheila (Bobby) Misiaszek, Hilary (Lee) Webb, Heather Strain, Amanda (Sean) Luley, Brittany(Geoffrey) Hale, Doug McCormick (Karie Hawkins), and Andrew Bikowsky (Brittani Hunt); greatnieces and nephews, Mya and Ian Luley, Jackson and Teagan Webb, Madelyn Bikowsky, andMikeal and Haylee Hawkins. He also leaves behind life-long friends, Alan and Traci Baird. Aswell as, a community full of friends from the fire service and EMS.Patrick would like to thank Dr. Wassel for all of the support he gave him over the last 25 yearsthrough dialysis, two kidney transplants and numerous other operations. He would also like tothank the staff and nurses at Siegenthaler Center for making sure that he had everything heneeded and was happy and comfortable throughout his final days.Patrick's funeral will be held on Saturday, October 27th, at 11:00 a.m. at the Paul FuneralHome, 3592 South Street, Madison, NY. His burial will be immediately following the funeral atthe Madison Village Cemetery where he will be laid to rest with his son. Calling hours for familyand friends will be Friday, October 26th, from 3:00-7:00 p.m.Those wishing to make a donation on Patrick's behalf can donate to The Madison FireDepartment or Hospice & Palliative Care Siegenthaler Center.
