New Hartford-Patricia J. “Pat” Piersma, 81, passed away peacefully with the  love of her life by her side, he husband of 63 years, Robert C. Piersma, on Wednesday, September 14, 2022, at the Waterville Residential Care Center.

Pat is survived by her soul mate of 63 years Robert C. “Pappy” Piersma; her children: Michael Piersma of Utica, Robin and Wyatt Owen of Brookfield, Laureen and Alan Johnston of Virginia, Brien and Christie Piersma of Virginia, Robert J. (Gina Hall) Piersma; and her sister Beverly Piperata of Utica. Pat is also survived by several grand and great grandchildren.

Pat lived a very productive life.  While raising her children she return to school and earned her GED. She furthered her education at the Utica School of Cosmetology. Following her licensure to become a hairdresser, she opened her own beauty shop. Pat owned and operated the shop for many years. Then Pat made a major career change, she received here certification to be a Nurse’s Assistant. Pat had cared for patients at the former Garrett Smith Infirmary, Chase Nursing Home, and finally retiring from Hamilton’s Community Memorial Hospital. In Pat’s retirement, it was then, she and her husband, “Pappy,” purchased the Beaver Den Diner.  They owned the diner for ten years.  They loved their friends and neighbors of Brookfield, and the Diner was not only a great meeting place, the food was excellent. Pat was also a person of many talents; her most favorite was going to flea markets and garage sales. Pat was also an excellent floral arranger, cake decorator, and stained glass artist.

She was predeceased by her mother Anna Sealy of Gorton Lake; her step father Edward Czerkies;  her father Fred Bored of Utica; her brother Robert Bored of Florida; her sisters Marylin Carino of Utica and Shirley Wyman of South Carolina; her mother and father in-law, Grace and Joesph Piersma of Brookfield.
