Michael S. Smith

Hamilton-Michael S. Smith, 60, passed away with the love and support of his family by his side, on Sunday May 4, 2025 at Crouse Hospital.

After fervently wishing for another son, Clesson and Bernice Smith delighted in the birth of their son Michael Scott on January2, 1965.  With this welcomed child, their family of five children was complete.

 As the youngest child, Michael was always running to keep up. Thrust into farm life from his early days riding the tractors with his father, Mike learned hard work and perseverance, determination and an ability to dream big, values and skills he would forever embody.

Michael’s quest for his own family was realized when he met and married Donna Marris. Together, with their boys Samuel and Cody, they spent their days in the typical family pursuits of sports, friends, family and the tasks of daily life.

A jack of all trades, Mike dabbled in many jobs from landscaping to house clean-outs and could often be found at Antique Days with his various treasures. Never short of ideas, Mike was quick to share his future plans, a laugh or an outrageous story.

Michael leaves warm and loving memories behind with his wife, Donna; their sons, Sam and Cody; his beloved grandson Bentley; his siblings, Myron and Kristin Smith, Sharon Jones, Melanie Brouilette, Sheila and Stephen McAdams (MA) and David and Tiffany Smith (FL); his in-laws, Connie Hatch, Roseanna Hall, Harry Miller, Terry Miller, David and Theresa Davenport, Chuck and Tina Dutcher and several nieces and nephews.

He was predeceased by his parents Clesson and Bernice.

Funeral service will be at the Paul Funeral Home of Madison on Monday, May 12, 2025 at 1PM.  There will be a visitation from 11 AM until 1 PM.  Interment will be in Madison Village Cemetery with a reception to follow at the Madison Historical Society.   Compassionate and personal care is being provided to Mike and his family by Jeffrey T.
