Johnson, 42, passed away at home on Wednesday, July 7, 2021, following a courageous ten-year battle against Huntington's Disease.He was born in Norwich on March 11, 1979, and is the son of Donald J. Johnson and the late Jennifer Lynn Maxson Johnson. He was raised in Sherburne and was a graduate of Sherburne-Earlville Central School. Mel had worked many years at Baillie Lumber as a Forklift Operator, prior to his illness. He loved the beauty of the outdoors, and enjoyed hunting and fishing. Mel also enjoyed his four-wheeler and whatever adventure he could travel. He was an avid spectator of modified stock car racing. He always enjoyed any moment that he could spend with family or friends. He will be fondly remembered as a loving son, a devoted father, and a loyal and caring brother.He is survived by his son Cole Johnson and daughter-in-law Kayli Willes, his sons Tobey Johnson and Cameron Johnson, and daughter Kiara Whaley; his father and step-mother Donald and Amy Johnson; his brother and sister-in-law Matthew J. and Corinne Johnson. Malcolm is survived by many aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins and close friends.He was predeceased by his mother Jennifer.Services for Malcolm will be held at the West Hill Cemetery, State Route 80, Sherburne, on Saturday, July 17, 2021 at 2 PM.
