Louis F. DesJardins

Munnsville-Louis F. “Louie” DesJardins, 84, passed away peacefully on Sunday, January 25, 2026, at the Oneida Healthcare Center.

Know by all as “Louie,” he was born on the family farm on January 8, 1942, in Augusta, the son of the late Charles DesJardins and Anna Marvin DesJardins.  On November 14, 1964, on the Day Farm, in Munnsville, Louie married Lois Day.  In 1967, Louie and Lois moved to a farm in Munnsville where they have lived since.  Louie devoted his life to farming, along with Lois; they raised their two sons,   Frank and Louis Jr., on the family farm.

Louie passed his legacy to all that knew him, as a devoted husband and father, a man who took pride in the care of his farm, cattle, and love for his farmland.  Louie and Lois cared for their milking herd until 2002. 

Louie is survived by his beloved wife of 61 years, Lois; his two sons Franklin (Debra) DesJardins of Beaver Dam, WI, and Louis F. DesJardins Jr. of Tacoma, WA; his beloved and precious grandchildren, Brittany Engleking and Rachel Welke; and eight great grandchildren; his sister Nora (Stuart) Link of Hubbardsville; his two brothers Charles DesJardins of California and Joseph DesJardins of Rome. 

He was predeceased by his parents Charles and Anna; his brothers George DesJardins and Daniel DesJardins; and his sister Cordelia Cossette.

Louie’s family honored his life privately at the Paul Funeral Home of Madison.  There are no calling hours.  A public graveside service will be held in the spring at the Stockbridge Cemetery, with Pastor Robert Taylor, Pastor of the Pratts Hollow United Methodist Church, officiating, at a time and date to be announced.  Compassionate and personal care is being provided to Louie and his family by Jeffrey T.
