Leon E. EatonSmithfield-Leon E. Eaton, 67, peacefully passed on Thursday, March 2, 2017, at his home with his wife Sandy, his family and friends by his side.Leon was born on April 14, 1949, in Georgetown, the son of the late Walter and Mabel Crumb Eaton. Leon attended DeRuyter High. He was a proud Army Veteran having served in Vietnam as a Sergeant. Leon was a member of the Smithfield Fire Department. He had work at CNY Bus Sales located in North Chittenango. March 15, 1975, in Earlville, Leon married Sandra Palmer. Married for nearly 42 years, they loved to travel in their RV from coast to coast, enjoying new places and sights, with their good friends. He loved summer, as it brought his family together at their family's camping grounds located at their home. Leon and Sandy also enjoyed going on cruises to exotic places. He had a love for the hunting, fishing, enjoying nature, and spending time with his grandchildren. He was best remembered as loving husband, father, grandfather, and brother. His love and devotion to his family will be deeply missed, but always cherished. Leon his survived by his loving wife, Sandy: his children, Walter Eaton, and his companion, Tracy Hill, of Morrisville, Heidi Eaton, and her companion, Casey Allen, of Morrisville, Leon Eaton, and his wife Tiffany, of Eaton, and Wayne Eaton, and his wife Brandi, also of Eaton; his sisters and brother, Kathy Swind, and her husband, Fred, of DeRuyter, Lauren Eaton, of Darlington, SC, Carol Perkins, of Union Valley, Darlene Windham, of Darlington, SC, Cindy Hurlbert, and her husband, Kent, of DeRuyter, and James Eaton, and his wife, Jewel, of Florence, SC; and his 18, grandchildren, of whom he was very proud. Leon also leaves many loving nieces and nephews.Leon was predeceased by his parents, Walter and Mabel, and his brother, Timothy. Funeral services with Military Honors will be held on Sunday, March 5, 2017 at 2:00 PM, at the Eaton Community Bible Church. There will be no calling hours, prior to the service. Following the service, a "Celebration of Leon's Life" will be held at the gym located behind the church. Spring interment will be in Peterboro Cemetery. Funeral arrangements are under the direction and personal care of Jeffrey T.
