He later went on to join the Army and served his country with the 6th Infantry Regiment 1st Battalion. He was deployed overseas during the Allied occupation of Germany. He was a skilled excavator operator carving the landscape to the precise job specifications. Throughout his working career, he had been employed by numerous companies to include Lancaster Development, Van Horn Trucking, Eastern Rock and Clinton Tractor. He was known to be a collector of old power engines and tractors. Lee was active in the Mohawk Valley Power of the Past and past President. He could always be found at Kilt’s Garage, enjoying a visit and a cup of coffee with his lifelong friends Jack and Tom Kilts.
