OBITUARYLarry A. "Hoss" Winn, Sr.Town of Augusta-Larry A. "Hoss" Winn, Sr., 80, passed away peacefully, on Thursday, October 12, 2017, at St. Elizabeth's Medical Center.Larry was born on May 22, 1937, in the Town of Sangerfield, the son of the late Arthur F. and Ella H. Karlman Winn. Larry grew up in the Town of Madison, on the point of the Solsville Augusta Road and Lay Road. He attended Madison Central School and graduated in 1955 with honors in Agriculture (FFA). In May of 1955, Larry's parents purchased the former Glyn Farm in Oriskany Falls. On October 27, 1956, Larry married the love of his life, Agnes M. Hazzard. Together they ran the family farm, and in 1964, Larry went to work for the Town of Augusta Highway Department. In 1967, Larry and Agnes discontinued farming. With seven children at home, Larry went to work truck driving for Gerow Trucking, then Burrows Trucking and Construction, and then retiring in 2005, from Eastern Rock/Hanson. He then was elected Town of Augusta Highway Superintendent, retiring from that position in 2009. Farming was always in Larry's heart, he maintained a collection of antique farm tractors. He was a member of the Mohawk Valley Chapter of "Power of the Past," antique tractor club. Larry was a member of the Order of the Moose, Oneida Chapter. He was most proud of being a Life Member of the Oriskany Falls Fire Department.He is survived by his loving wife, of 61 years, Agnes; his beloved children, James R. Winn, Douglas E. and Lisa Brady Winn, Thomas C. and Diane Evans Winn, Willie K. and Barbara Diehl Winn, Allen L. "Stubby" and Jennifer Georgia Winn, Larry A. "Chad" Winn, Jr., and his only beloved daughter Linda, L. Winn; his brother, Donald L. "Toots" Winn; 19 grandchildren and 12 great grandchildren and one great-great grandson; a nephew Casey and Heather Mason Winn, and a great niece Carley. Larry is also survived by numerous beloved nieces and nephews.Larry was predeceased by his parents, Art and Ella, a grandson, Nicholas M. Winn, and a great grandson Adrien Kennedy.Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, October 17, 2017 at 2:00 PM at the Paul Funeral Home of Madison. Interment will be in Madison Village Cemetery. Family and friends are invited to call at the funeral home from Noon to 2:00 Pm, prior to the service.
