Larry K. SmithBrookfield-Larry K. Smith, 67, passed away on Friday, June 23, 2017, with the love and support of his family, at Faxton-St. Luke's Healthcare Center, following a lengthy illness.He was born in Norwich on March 22, 1950, the son of the late Charles and Iva King Smith. Larry was raise in Middleville and attended local schools. For the past 33 years he has made the Brookfield-Bridgewater area his home. He had worked at O.W. Hubble, Inc., for numerous years, until his disability forced his retirement. Larry had previously worked for Cosette Concrete and Chapman's Potato Farm. Larry like to dabble in carpentry, never knowing how the project would end up. He enjoyed outdoor activities to include, hunting, fishing, and riding his four-wheeler. He had a hobby farm and would tinker with anything mechanical. He would brighten up anyone's day with a wise crack and a big smile. Most of all, Larry enjoyed babysitting for his grandchildren, and was devoted to Marie and their children.Larry is survived by his children, Larry R. Smith, of Middleville, Jennifer Stetson, and her husband, Phillip, of Brookfield, Brad Smith, also of Brookfield, Suzanne Vogel, and her husband, Chuck, of Edmeston, and Clint Effner, and his wife, Amanda, of Leonardsville; his sisters, Georgia McNeal, of Newport and Sandy Smith, of Herkimer; his brothers, Ron Smith, and his wife, Bonnie, of the Town of Ohio, Jack Smith, and his wife, Maude, of Middleville, and Sam Smith, also of Middleville; his life companion, Marie Effner, of Brookfield; 12 cherished grandchildren; numerous nieces and nephews.Larry was predeceased by his parents, Charles and Iva, and a special sister-in-law, Debbie Smith. There will be a "Celebration of Larry's Life" to be held on Saturday, July 1, 2017 from 1-4 PM, at the Beaver Creek Golf Course, 7844 State Route 20, Sangerfield. Interment services will be private and at a later date. Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to the care of the Paul Funeral Home of Brookfield.
