LaVerne R. TallmanPottsville, AR-LaVerne R. Tallman, 92, a longtime resident of Oriskany Falls, passed away peacefully on May 16, 2016, at the home she shared with her daughter. At the time of her passing her daughters and families were at her bedside.She was born in Rochester on July 15, 1923, the daughter of the late George and Marie Gaffney Johnson. As a young child, her family moved to the Norwich area, where LaVerne attended high school. On June 21, 1941 in Old Forge, she married Joseph N. "Bud" Tallman, Sr. Their loving union lasted over 53 years until Bud's passing in 1994. LaVerne was no stranger to hard work. She retired from the former Sherwood Medical facility in Oriskany Falls in 1988, with 30 years of service. She and Bud had also owned Tallman's Diner from 1969 to 1981. LaVerne would work alongside her husband in the diner during the day, and then work a night shift at Sherwood. Even though LaVerne "put in" a long day, she was a devoted wife and mother, always tending to her family's needs. She also had a love for caring and adopting pets without homes. Soon after Bud's passing in 1994, LaVerne moved to Arkansas with her daughter Tracie, and her family.She is survived by her loving daughters, Tracie Robertson, of Pottsville, AR., her daughter Doris Thrasher, and her husband, Frank of Clinton; her sister, Violet Twambley, of Rochester: her brother, Hubert Johnson, of AZ; several grandchildren and great grandchildren; numerous nieces and nephews.LaVerne was predeceased by her husband Bud, her daughter, Penny, her son Joseph N. "Butch" Tallman, Jr.Graveside funeral service will be held at a time to be announced in Madison Village Cemetery.
