Kristen Claire Welch Camp, age 69, went home to be with her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, on March 25, 2026. She passed peacefully at Community Memorial Hospital, surrounded by her beloved husband and children. Her life was a testimony of unwavering faith, sacrificial love, and complete devotion to God and her family.
Kristen, known as Kristy, was born on January 3, 1957 in Utica, NY to Robert and Barbara Welch. From an early age she exuded a passion and vigor for life that impacted all of those who came in contact with her. Her contagious smile and joy were what drew others into her life.
Kristy came to know the Lord as a teenager and fully committed her life to Christ at the age of 28. From that point forward, she was marked by a deep and abiding relationship with Christ that would transform her life. She carried a passion for teaching others how to love Jesus and lived every moment to further His Kingdom. She lived by the verse, Psalm 145:4, “One generation shall commend your works to another, and shall declare your mighty acts.”
Together with her husband of 50 years, John Patrick Camp, she faithfully served as a Senior Pastor of Resurrection Life Fellowship for 30 years. Together they impacted countless lives with wisdom, compassion, and grace. Kristy was known for her teaching, counseling, prayer and deep love for worship. Her ministry extended far beyond the church; she also served as a Kindergarten teacher, Youth Leader, Women’s Ministry Leader, and mentor. She traveled to three different continents to teach and share the love of God with others. Kristy and John are the founders of DavidsKidz International, a child sponsorship program in Uganda that meets the needs of over 300 children. This ministry of love was birthed out of the grief of the loss of their son David in 2010.
While her ministry touched many, her greatest joy by far was found in her family. She was a loving wife and mother to her five children, eighteen grandchildren and one great grandchild. As a mother and grandmother, she modeled what it means to follow Christ with your whole heart. She created a beautiful home that was full of laughter and love.
She is lovingly remembered by her dear husband, John; her children, Aaron Camp (Erin), Laura Camp Snyder (Jeff), Elizabeth Camp Lutke (Jake), and Jessica Camp Wicks (Joe); her father Robert Welch, and three siblings, each of whom carries forward her legacy of faith; and her many loved ones whose lives were touched by her ministry. She is reunited with their youngest son, David Camp, who preceded her entry into heaven.
Kristy will always be remembered for her courage, compassion, love, and faithfulness. Her life leaves a lasting imprint that will continue for generations to come. Though her irreplaceable presence will be deeply missed, there is eternal hope and the reassurance of a heavenly reunion.
Calling hours for friends and family will be held on Saturday, April 11th, at Resurrection Life Fellowship from 12:00 pm to 2:00 pm, with a Celebration of Life service immediately following at 2:00 pm and a reception afterward.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to DavidsKidz International at DavidsKidz.org, continuing the legacy of faith and compassion she so faithfully lived out.
