Joseph R. EatonGeorgetown-Joseph R. Eaton, 60, passed away unexpectedly at his home on Wednesday, January 25, 2017.He was born at the DeRuyter Maternity Home on January 13, 1957, the son of the late Donald R. Eaton, Sr. and Mary A. Cummings Eaton. Joe had work many years for the Town of Manlius Highway Department as the Supervising Mechanic. He was forced to retire from a job he loved, due to a stroke at the age of 44. He would not let his disability prevent him from his automotive mechanic skills and his knowledge of home repair and construction. He will be missed by all in Georgetown who saw him on his tractor, which he truly loved. But most of all he will be deeply missed by his children and grandchildren, as Joe was a devoted father, and grandfather.Joe is survived by his beloved children Erika Rossman, and her husband, Eric, of Cortland, Joana Eaton, and her fiancé, Jay Sullivan, also of Cortland, Mike Eaton and his wife, Brooke Cummings, and their children, Josslyn, and Foster, all of McGraw; his sisters, Mary "Tina" Eaton and Donna Eaton, both of Georgetown. Joe is also survived by beloved, always by his side companion, dog, Allie.Joe was predeceased by his parents, Don, Sr. and Mary, and his brother, Don, Jr. Family and friends are invited to attend calling hours on Sunday, January 29, 2017, from 2-4 PM, at the Paul Funeral Home, 3592 South Street in Madison. A brief prayer service will conclude calling hours. Spring interment will be in Sheds Cemetery.Joe's family would appreciate donations to assist with Joe's final expenses, in lieu of flowers.
