Johanne T. Jipson
Johanne T. Jipson, 86, of Oriskany Falls, N.Y., passed away peacefully with her family by her side on August 10, 2022, at the Oneida Extended Care Facility.
Born on January 20, 1936, she was the daughter of the late Joseph and Sadie MacPherson Tallman. Johanne was married to Frank Jipson, Jr., until his passing in 1978. She worked at many local restaurants during her lifetime, including the Bouckville Diner, Deansboro Diner, Moore’s Coffee Shop, Deansboro Hotel, and the Purple Cow. In 1980 Johanne bought Tallman’s Coffee Shop in Oriskany Falls and operated it with her daughters Nancy and Pati. In 2005, she chose to retire and spend her days with her grandson Jack. She always enjoyed bowling, board games, puzzles, cooking, and spending time with her grandchildren.
Johanne is survived by her children, Lyle (Donna) Wright, Bruce (Gail) Jipson, Brian (Kathy) Jipson, Nancy Yates, Pati Rasmussen, Kathy Jipson, and Lana (Jeff) Paul; grandchildren Heather (Sean) Stroich, Cody (Olivia) Jipson, Conner (Ariel) Jipson, Dakota (Savannah) Bridge, Makenna Bridge, Jack Bridge, and Casey Paul; great-grandchildren Lilly and Elias Stroich and Colt Bridge; and many nieces and nephews.
Johanne was predeceased by her husband, Frank Jipson, Jr; her parents, Joseph and Sadie Tallman; sisters: Helen Vivian, Esthyr Frost, Monica Owens, Bernice Bassett, Virginia Misiaszek; brothers Joseph, Lyle, Robert, James, and Donald Tallman; and two infant brothers, Frank and Jimmy.
Our deepest appreciation goes to the dedicated staff on the 5th floor of the Oneida Extended Care Facility for the exceptional care they gave to our mother.
Family and friends are invited to calling hours on Friday, August 19, 2002, from 2-5 PM, at the Paul Funeral Home of Madison. There will be a prayer service following calling hours. Private family interment service will be made in Hillside Cemetery, Oriskany Falls. Johanne’s family will host a reception from 6-8 PM at the Kelley-Phillips Post # 569 American Legion Post, Oriskany Falls. Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to the personal care of Jeffrey T.
