Jennie Ruth OwenBrookfield-Jennie Ruth Owen, 84, entered into eternal rest on Tuesday, January 16, 2018, with the love and support of her family by her side, at St. Elizabeth's Medical Center.Ruth was born on September 22, 1933, in Prepaxton, NY, the daughter of the late Paul and Lucy Ferguson Kabana. As a young girl, her family moved to the Bridgewater area, and Ruth graduated from the Bridgewater High School. In 1965, she married her, "Soul Mate" Nelson Owen. In the 60's, Ruth had worked at GE of Utica, and in the 70's, she worked for the Sherburne-Earlville School District, but she most enjoyed the position of being a stay at home mom. With 9 children, it was a demanding job, but mom dailey showered all her children with love. She enjoyed cooking delicious meals, treats and especially homemade doughnuts for her family. Mom liked to crochet and knit, making many items for her children. She was an avid garage sale addict. She loved to visit garage sales, and hosted many sales of her own, but most of all loved the thrill of negotiating on items, whether selling or buying. In her later years, she read numerous books about the Amish Culture and enjoyed websites, like Craigslist and Upscale Garage Sales. Mom leaves a void, as she was a loving and devoted wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, aunt, and friend.Mom is survived by her beloved husband of 53 years, Nelson; her children and their spouses, who she loved dearly, Vicky (Richard) Pedersen, of Lee Center, Gordon (Barbara) Owen, of Spring Hill, TN, Paul (Georgie) Owen, of Brookfield, Wyatt (Robin) Owen, of Brookfield, Frank (Robin) Owen, of Brookfield, and her caregiver and special daughter, Cathy Owen, of Brookfield; her sister, Marie Howe, of Brookfield; many grandchildren; numerous great grandchildren, lots of nieces, nephews, and close friends.Ruth was predeceased by her parents, Paul and Lucy, a beloved daughter, Jennie Owen, her beloved twin boys, Nelsen Eddy Owen and John Edward Owen; her brothers, Bill Gow, Edward Kabana, and Frank Kabana. Funeral services will be held on January 21, 2018, at 2:00 PM at the Paul Funeral Home of Brookfield. Spring interment will be in Brookfield Rural Cemetery. There will be no calling hours.
