Janice L. Fudzinski

Janice L Fudzinski, 73, of Brookfield, NY died at home on Sunday, October 8th, surrounded by family.   Known for her generous hugs, welcoming smile and kindness, Janice will be missed by all who knew and loved her.   A deft hand at knitting, her ‘Jan Blankets’ are treasured by all who were lucky to receive one.

Born in Bayshore, NY in 1950 to John and Leonore Blankenhorn, Janice grew up in Lindenhurst NY. Janice attended Lindenhurst High School before marrying her high school sweetheart, Francis Fudzinski.  Janice and Frank would begin their marriage and family in Lindenhurst, NY before moving to Brookfield in 1980.   Janice would later attend Utica School of Commerce earning her Associate Degree before working as an Administrative Assistant at Colgate University for over 25 years.   Janice also started the Girls Varsity Soccer program at Hamilton Central School, building the program from nothing and becoming a loved coach and mentor to many.

Janice was preceded in death by her parents, John and Leonore Blankenhorn and a sister, Elaine Massiello.   She is survived by Deborah Vicino (sister) of Lindenhurst NY, Francis Fudzinski (husband) of Brookfield NY, Michael Fudzinski (son) and his wife Lisa Fudzinski of Saratoga Springs, NY and Janene Monty (daughter) and her husband Jeff Monty of Saratoga Springs, NY as well as three beloved grandchildren, Finn Fudzinski, Satchel Monty and Cassidy Monty.

Though Janice loved spending time with all her family, walking the trails at home and planning the next family get together, her favorite role was that as a most beloved grandparent. She treasured her time with her grandkids and loved being their Nana, never failing to be there for them in all their activities, jumping in as rollercoaster partner and especially giving her famous hugs.

No services are scheduled at this time as the family mourns her passing in private.
