Janet K. Anguish
Morrisville - Janet Kyle Anguish, 88, passed away peacefully surrounded with the love and support of her children and other beloved family members by her side, at the Crouse Community Center, on Friday, November 22, 2024.
She was born in Utica on July 28, 1936, the daughter of the late James W. Dowd Sr. and Ellen Murphy Dowd. She was raised on the family farm in Knoxboro, and was a graduate of Madison High School Class of 1955. On October 15, 1955, she married John R. Anguish. Together they raised three precious children. Their loving union lasted 55 years until John’s passing in 2010. Janet retired in 1998, from Cooperative Extension where she worked as an Administrative Assistant at Cornell University. She previously had worked for the Moravia Central School District and the Dempsey insurance Agency in Kings Ferry. Janet had also run a thriving Avon Business. She was a devout Catholic and had been a parishioner at St. Anthony’s Roman Catholic Church in Groton.
Janet is survived by her children: Thomas J. Anguish of Ballston Spa, Kyle M. Wood of Madison, and John R. (Kelly) Anguish II of Apache Junction, AZ; her cherished grandchildren: Gregory (Abigail) Wood II of Raleigh, NC, Matthew Wood of Raleigh, NC, Jenet (Matthew) Bethel of Smithfield, NC, Connor (Brittany) Anguish, Erica Anguish, and Matti (Jeff) Taylor, all of Mesa, AZ; her beloved great grandchildren: Adam Bethel, Ella Bethel, Jayde Emanual, Kylie Wood, Gregory Wood III, Royal Anguish, Crew Anguish, Olive Taylor, Noah Anguish, Jet Taylor, and Remington Robinson; her siblings: Delores Faulkner of Vernon Center, Barbara Kirley of Oneida, Nancy (Robert) Eastman of Madison, Mary Ellen (Larry) Burt of Oriskany Falls, and James W. (Donna) Dowd Jr. also of Oriskany Falls; her in-laws Garrett and Mary Jane Rockwell, Ballston Spa. Numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and close friends also survive Janet.
She was predeceased by her parents Jim and Ellen, her beloved husband John R. Anguish, her beloved daughter Valerie Anguish, and her sisters: Marlene Dowd, Maureen Austin, and Karen Dowd.
Janet’s family extends a heartfelt thank you to the Doctors, Nurses, and Staff at the Crouse Community Center for the excellent and loving care given to Janet this past year.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated for Janet at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church in Oriskany Falls on Monday, December 2. 2024, at 11 AM, with the Reverend John Donovan, Pastor, as Celebrant. Following Mass, there will be a Celebration of Janet’s Life to be held at the Oriskany Falls American Legion. Family and friends are invited to attend calling hours on Sunday December 1, 2024, from 1-3 PM, at the Paul Funeral Home of Madison. Interment will be made in Madison Village Cemetery. Compassionate and personal care is being provided to Janet and her family by Jeffrey T. Paul, Director of the Paul Funeral Home of Madison.
