James R. Stone Madison-James R. Stone, 70, "A Proud American Farmer," passed away peacefully, at his home, with the love and support of his family by his side, on Thursday, January 11, 2018.Jim was born on the Madison family farm, on August 8, 1947, the son of Merrill "Kelly" and Florence Austin Stone. He graduated from Madison High School in 1965, as the class salutatorian. On April 9, 1966, at the North Brookfield Baptist Church, Jim married Sharon Maine. He lived and breathed farming; but between all the chores and demands of running the farm, his family was his priority. He was the happiest when all his family was gathered around him and beamed with pride over the accomplishments of his children and grandchildren. He was known as the guy that would "light up a room" with jokes and laughter and all his grandchildren knew Jim as the smartest man alive. Jim unconditionally loved his wife Sharon, his children and grandchildren, and his great grandchildren. He was also a devoted son, brother, and friend and was always there to help a fellow farmer or anyone in need.Jim is survived by his beloved wife of 51 years, Sharon; his two sons, Brian Stone and his wife, Vicky, and Doug Stone, and his wife, Roxanne; his four daughters, Tracy Dorman, and her husband, Mike, Tammy Rivers, and her husband Dave, Desi Stone, and Heather Still, and her husband, Jim; his sisters, Patricia Pierce, and her husband, Roy, Kathy Ray, and her husband, Don, Roberta Bosse, and her husband, Floyd and Nancy Gaiser, and her husband, John; his brothers, Duane Stone, and his wife, Sandy, Fred Stone, and his wife Marcia, Carl Stone, and his wife Bonnie. Jim is also survived by eighteen grandchildren, three great grandchildren, numerous nieces, nephews, close friends, and fellow farmers.Jim was predeceased by his parents, Kelly and Florence, and his sister, Donna Stone.Family and friends are invited to attend calling hours on Sunday, January 14, 2018 from noon to 3PM at the Paul Funeral Home, 3592 South Street, Madison. Private funeral services for family will follow calling hours. Interment will take place in the spring in the family cemetery.
