Hezekiah Donald "Don" Philhower IIIHubbardsville-Hezekiah Donald "Don" Philhower III, 30, passed away on Thursday, June 17, 2021 with the love and support of his family at his side, at his home, following a courageous battle against cancer.He was born in Hamilton on May 5, 1991, the son of H. Donald Philhower Jr. and Regina Miller Philhower. Don attended Madison Central School and later went on to graduate from Hamilton Central School. He also furthered his education at MVCC. Don served as a New York State Corrections Officer at Mohawk Correctional Institution. He proudly served as an officer, until his illness caused his retirement. Prior to working in corrections, Don had worked in various vocations. He was a lover of the great outdoors. He was an "all season" fisherman, he even enjoyed ice fishing. He was a skilled hunter with both a bow and gun. Don could also be found in the woods, just enjoying nature's beauty. He started bowling at age 10, which lead to a life time passion for the sport. Don belonged to both Earlville and Cazenovia Bowling Leagues. Don was a skilled golfer and enjoyed playing with friends and family. Don belonged to the Mountain Top golf league on Tuesday nights. Don shared a special bond with his parents and siblings, always there with love and support, no matter the need. He held many special qualities that will be deeply missed by all who loved him. Don's passing is mourned by his parents Don, Jr. and Jeannie; his sister Jennifer (Russell) McWherter; his brother Jerry (Erica) Hazard; his sister Kiamesha Philhower; and his brother William Philhower. Many aunts, uncle, nieces, nephews, cousins, and close friends also survive Don.He was predeceased by his maternal grandparents, Herbert and Ruth Miller, and paternal grandparents, Hezekiah Donald Philhower Sr. and Patricia J. Philhower.There will be calling hours for Don on Tuesday from 4-8 PM at the Paul Funeral Home of Madison. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11 AM on Wednesday at St. Mary's Church in Hamilton, with Fr. Jason Hage as celebrant. Interment will be in St. Joseph's Cemetery. Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to the care of the Paul Funeral Home of Madison.
