Guilford J. Strong, Sr.Guilford John Strong, Sr., 89, died on June 30, 2019.Mr. Strong was born on November 3, 1929, the son of the late Herbert and Adelaide Van Evera Strong. Mr. Strong was a graduate of Madison High School and proudly served his country during the Korean War. He retired from Eastern Rock Products after thirty-six years. Mr. Strong was a life member of the Kelly-Phillips American Legion Post, 569.He is survived by his loving wife 34 years, June Godfrey Strong; children, Guilford (Darlene) Strong, Jr., of Hamilton, Mark (Debbie Starkweather) Strong of Munnsville, Craig (Dawn) Strong of Oneida, Alfred Strong of Sangerfield, Jackie (Harry Lynch) Amacker of Sangerfield, Denise (Tony) Zike of Waterville, step-sons, Richard (Konnie) Miller of Lebanon, TN, David (Cindy) Miller, Jr., of Old Hickory, TN; siblings Kay Konono of Rome, Barbara Mennig of Munnsville, Warner Strong of Florida, Tony Strong of Knoxboro, Joe Strong of Oneida; 14 grandchildren; 21 great grandchildren; numerous nieces and nephews.Mr. Strong was predeceased by his siblings, Gilbert, Charles, Keith, Carlton, Teddy, Doug, Gary, Dickey, LeVern and Phyllis.Funeral services with Military honors will be held on Saturday, September, 28, 2019, at 12:00 PM, at the Madison American Legion Post. Interment will be in Hillside Cemetery, Oriskany Falls. Local funeral arrangements have been entrusted to the care of the Paul Funeral Home of Madison.
