Gordon L. Kinne, Jr.Madison- Gordon L. Kinne, Jr., 67, passed from this life, to eternal life on Monday, August 24, 2020, surrounded by his loving children, at the Oneida Healthcare Center, following a courageous battle against cancer. Gordon was born in Utica on November 13, 1952, the son of the Gordon L. Kinne, Sr., and Patricia Steinhorst Kinne. Gordon grew up in Utica and Whitesboro He graduated in 1972 from Whitesboro Central School. During his youth he was active in the Boy Scouts and youth groups at our Saviour Lutheran Church, Utica, N.Y where he was confirmed. On June 30, 1979, at the Madison United Methodist Church, he married Shirley A. Forward. Together, they made their family home first in Augusta and then Madison, until Shirley's passing in 2014. He had worked in the food service industry for over 20 years at Colgate Dining Services. He was an active member of "The Third Option" Ministry of the Resurrection Life Fellowship. For many years, Gordon could be seen riding his bicycle, just about anywhere. He was also an avid hiker, who enjoyed taking photographs of the hike's beautiful surroundings. Gordon did enjoy spending time with family and friends, almost always memorializing the events with pictures. Gordon will most be remembered for being a devoted and loving husband, father, brother, family member and friend. Gordon is survived by his beloved children, Patricia Kinne, Lisa Kinne, and John Kinne; his sister, Linna Kinne Miller; his Aunt Jeannie Steinhorst Steiner, his brother-in-law, Stephen (Helen) Forward; his sisters-in-law, Cynthia Forward, Diana (Dan) Prout, and Judy (Bruce) Hastings. Also surviving are his three nephews and three nieces, a grandnephew and grandniece, eleven first cousins and loving large extended family.Gordon was predeceased by his beloved wife, Shirley; his parents Gordon, Sr. and Patricia; his father and mother-in-law, Dan and Jean Forward; and his sister Pamela Jean Kinne.Funeral services will be held on Friday September 4, 2020, at 11 AM, at the Resurrection Life Fellowship, with the Rev. John Camp, Pastor, officiating. Interment will be at Forest Hill Cemetery, Utica. Family and friends are invited to attend visitation, at the church on Friday from 10 AM to 11 AM.
