Madison-Gordon L. Davis, 80, a life resident of the Village, died unexpectedly on Monday, January 4, 2016, at the Faxton-St. Luke's Sunset Healthcare Center.He was born in Oneida on November 22, 1935, the son of the late Ralph W. and Melora Lamb Davis. Gordon was a graduate of Madison High and went on to Cornell University. He spent his working career as a Milk Field Technician making sure that only quality milk was sent from the farm to the dairy. He retired from Dairy One of Ithaca with 50 years of service. Gordon had been raised on the family farm located on Center Road and had also spent 35 years working the farm and his full time dairy inspector's job. Since 1994, Gordon been a member of the Madison Cemetery Board, and since 2004, has served as President. Gordon had a fondness for many activities, but he will most be remembered for his love of reading.Gordon is survived by his sister, Laurel Hall, of Unadilla; his sister-in-law, Carole Davis, of Madison; several nieces and nephews.He was predeceased by his sisters Helen Ford, Carol Silvernail, and Kathleen Rhoades Greenfield; and his brother, Stanley Davis.Visitation and funeral services were held on Saturday, January 9, 2016, at 11 AM at the Paul Funeral Home of Madison with the Rev. Raymond Lighthall, officiating. Spring interment will be in Madison Cemetery.In memory of Gordon, please consider a donation to the Madison Village Cemetery, P.O.
