Gordon B. CurtisBrookfield-Gordon B. Curtis, 84, a life resident of Brookfield, passed away peacefully in his sleep, on Thursday, August 5, 2021, at the Waterville Residential Care Center, where he had been a patient for a short time. He was born in Cortland on January 14, 1937, the son of the late Byrd and Beatrice Truman Curtis. Gordon was raised on the family farm and was a graduate of Brookfield Central School. He furthered his education at the Utica School of Commerce. Following his graduation, he began a life long career in the banking industry. His career spanned forty years with the same financial institution.His career began with Oneida National Bank of Utica, which merged with Norstar Bank, at about the time of his retirement in 2001, Norstar had merged with Fleet Bank. Gordon had held through out the years the executive position of Payroll Officer. His forty years at the bank were a big part of his life, enjoyed the friendship of the employees and working with the general public. Another passion of Gordon's was running. He participated in numerous Marathon Races to include, Utica's Boiler Maker Race. He also maintained a group of friends that would come together for "fun runs." Although Gordon was a bachelor, he loved being around his family members, and was always there for everyone. In his retirement years, Gordon was an avid reader and enjoyed any kind of puzzle. He also enjoyed maintaining his home in a pristine condition.Gordon was a big part of his family's life, his passing is mourned by his brother and sister-in-law, Kenneth and Karen Curtis of Brookfield; his two sisters-in-law, Freida Curtis of Brookfield and Carol Curtis of Clayville. Several nieces and nephews also survive Gordon.He was predeceased by his three brothers: Richard, Robert and James.In keeping with Gordon's wishes, there will be no calling hours. Private family interment services will be held in Brookfield Cemetery. Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to the care of the Paul Funeral Home of Brookfield.
