Genevieve M. Johnson
Bouckville-Genevieve M. Johnson, 90, passed away peacefully on Friday, April 28, 2023, at Community Memorial Hospital with the love and support of her daughter Mary Ellen and son-in-law James, at her side.
She was born on the family farm in Deansboro on October 16, 1932, the daughter of the late Wincenty and Jadwiga Bladek Zombek. Gen graduated from Madison High School Class of 1950. Following high school, she continued her education by graduating from the Excelsior School of Business. She had worked in the Utica business office for the Coke-Cola Bottling Company. On May 2, 1953, at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church in Oriskany Falls, Gen married her soul mate John H. Johnson. Their loving union lasted 67 years until John’s passing in 2020. Together, they raised their family of three cherished children, while operating a large farming operation. Gen was always by John’s side raising the family and the daily chores of farming, and assisting John with his other business endeavors. Together they ran the Texaco Gas Station in Bouckville, an Antique Business, and attended numerous auctions where they would buy and sell items. Gen’s love and devotion to her family, her kindness to all, and her warm and friendly smile will be missed by all.
Gen is survived by her constant companion and daughter Mary Ellen, and her husband James Brown of Bouckville; her son Dr. John A. Johnson of Harlem, GA; her cherish grandsons; Stephen (Tina) Brown, Jonathan Brown, Michael Brown, and Anthony Alvarado; her beloved great grandchildren Allison Brown and Jamie Brown; and her sister in-law Julie Zombek. Gen is also survived by numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins.
She was predeceased by her parents Wincenty and Jadwiga; beloved husband John; her cherished daughter Joan; her five brothers: Andrew, Joseph, Edward, John, and Stanley; and three sisters, Wanda Socha, Veronica Spooner, and Helen Krupa; sisters-in-law Irene Cobb and Betty Zombek; and a brother-in-law Donald Johnson.
There will be callings hours for Gen on May 8, 2023 from 4-6 PM at the Paul Funeral Home of Madison. Her funeral will be conducted on Tuesday May 9, 2023, at 11 AM, from the funeral home with the Rev. Jerry Saliba, officiating. Interment will be made in St. Mary’s Cemetery, Clinton.
