Fredrick C. BluntMadison-Fredrick C. Blunt, 74, passed away unexpectedly on Sunday, November 12, 2017, at Hamilton's Community Memorial Hospital.He was born on December 14, 1942, at the family home in Oriskany Falls, the son of the late Clarence and Loretta Legacy Blunt. In 1961, Fred graduated from Oriskany Falls High School. Following high school, Fred proudly served in the US Army, from 1962-1965 in the Combat Engineers. On October 20, 1962, in Madison, Fred married the love of his life, Jo Biedermann. In 1965, Fred went to work at Hamilton College in the Building and Grounds Department. It was a career he embraced, retiring as Supervisor of the department in 2004, with 39 years of service. He loved his nieces and nephews, who compassionately called him, "Uncle Ferd." Uncle Ferd loved to share with them stories on his conquests on the soccer field during his high school years. Fred was an avid outdoors man with many interests. He enjoyed hunting and trapping, his hobbies also included bee keeping and maple syrup collecting. A huge NASCAR Fan, Fred was always "tuned in" to cheer on car 24, Jeff Gordon. Most of all Fred was a devoted husband, father, brother, and mentor and best friend to his many nieces and nephews.Fred is survived by his loving wife of 55 years, Jo; his brother and sister-in-law, Darrol and Carol Legacy, of Oriskany Falls; his brother-in-law, and sister-in-law, Bert and Barbara Snyder, of Madison; his beloved nieces and nephews: Kevin Snyder, of Madison, Kristin Smith, of Munnsville, Kris Snyder, of Madison, Wade Biedermann, of Bouckville, Karl "Shorty" Biedermann, of Hamilton, Karla Ford, of Cartersville, GA, Robin Garcia, of Conroe, TX, Scott Legacy, of Waterville, Steve Legacy, of Waterville, Roberta Gaynor, of PA, and Becky Legacy, of VA. Fred is also survived by numerous great and great-great nieces and nephews, many of whom had shared a loving relationship with Fred.Fred and Jo endured the heart-breaking loss of their son, Terry Karl Blunt in 1983. Fred was also predeceased by his parents Clarence and Loretta, his sister, Eleanor Lynch, and his brother-in-law, Karl Biedermann, Sr.In keeping with Fred's wishes, funeral services will be private. There are no calling hours. Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to the care of the Paul Funeral Home of Madison.
