Fred Schenk, Sr.Knoxboro-Fred Schenk, Sr, 92, passed away peacefully with the love and support of his children, on Saturday, September 2, 2017, at Oneida Healthcare's ECF.Fred was born on January 22, 1925, in the Town of Western, the son of the late Ernest and Rosa Jost Schenk. He attended school at the former Knoxboro School and graduated from Madison High School. On April 15, 1950, in Vernon, Fred married Venetta M Terrier. Their loving union lasted 62 years until Venetta's passing in 2012. Fred held a life-long career a union carpenter with Carpenter's Local 747, of Syracuse. He had also worked on the family's Knoxboro farm. Fred will be remembered as a devoted and loving family man.Fred is survived by his sons, Fred, Jr., and his wife Judy Schenk, of Hamilton, Ron, and his wife Valarie Schenk, of Deansboro, and Randy Schenk, of Knoxboro; his sisters, Helen Altamura, of Canastota, Kathleen Megyesi, of Portland, OR, Ruth Jacobs, of Winterhaven, FL, and Bonnie Sullivan, of Chittenango; his brothers, Benjamin Schenk, of Sherrill, and William Schenk, of Canastota; two grandchildren, and 2 great grandchildren; several nieces and nephews.Fred was predeceased by his parents, Ernest and Rosa, his wife, Venetta, his brothers, Charles, Harold, John, Edward, and Harry, and his sister Olga. Fred was also predeceased by his grandson, Jeff Schenk.Funeral services will be held at the Paul Funeral Home of Madison on Thursday, September 7, at 2:00 PM. Family and friends may call at the funeral home from Noon to 2:00 PM, prior to the service. Interment to follow in August Cemetery.
