Eva V. FordMadison-Eva May Vair Ford, 93, passed away with the love and support of her beloved children and family by her bedside, at her home, on Wednesday, September 25, 2019.She was born Christmas Eve, on December 24, 1925, at the home of her parents, John C. and Elizabeth "Lizzy" Schumaker Vair. Eva attended school in Knoxboro and graduated from Oriskany Falls High School in 1944. Also, in 1944, on the 4th of July, she married her soul mate, Ronald A. Ford. Together, they owned and operated the family farm in Madison. As a farmer's wife, Eva was busy with the farm chores and caring for her four children. She also found extra time to work at her uncle's store in Solsville and in later years, assisted her brother, John Vair with his supermarket, Vair's Big M of Morrisville. Ron and Eva's loving union of 51 years, came to a close with Ron's passing in 1995. Eva was very active in the community and held memberships in Home Bureau, the Ladies Auxiliary of Madison's American Legion Post, 1556, Oriskany Falls Women's Bowling League and Treasurer of the Madison Senior Citizens Group. She was a life-long and devoted member of the Madison United Methodist Church. Eva served on the Inter Faith Council, as a familiar face helping with the church's pancake breakfasts, the summer Antique Sale, and was there to help with food for the needy. Her family was the center of her life, and Eva left many fond memories of her caring and love for all.Eva is survived by her daughter, Gail Engelbrecht, of Madison; two daughters and sons-in-law, Linda Ford and Ira Glunts of Madison, Patricia Ford and Todd Backus of Fairport; a son and daughter-in-law, Gary and MaryAnn Ford of Deansboro; her sisters, Daisy "Maude" Spina of Utica and Jessie (Roy) Vair of Omaha, NE; 5 grandchildren; 12 great grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.Eva was predeceased by her parents, John and Lizzy; her husband, Ron; her sisters, Mary Jaquay, Alice Jaquay, Josephine Hotaling, Fannie Pryputniewicz, Ella Mae Vair and Julia Vair; her brothers, Frank Vair, John Vair, Robert Vair, Charles and Thomas Vair. Eva was also predeceased by a special friend and companion, Don Phillips.Eva's family extends heartfelt thanks to the home health aides who provided excellent care and compassion, which allowed our mom's final days to be at home. Funeral services will be held on Monday, September 30, 2019, at the Paul Funeral Home, 3592 South Street, Madison. Interment will be in Madison Village Cemetery. Family and friends are invited to attend calling hours on Monday from 10 AM until Noon, prior to the service.
