Eric Bloomfield
Hamilton- Eric was born on January 2nd, 1946, in Germany. He passed away on July 6th, 2024, with his wife by his side, at Crouse Hospital in Syracuse, NY.
Eric joined the US Army in 1963 and bravely served his country in Vietnam as a paratrooper with the 101st Airborne. He was honorably discharged in 1967. Eric had a strong interest in politics and enjoyed the spirited debates that came along with it. He was an eternal optimist and had a great, albeit sometimes twisted, sense of humor. These traits served him well, as later in life he battled several health issues. More than anything Eric loved and appreciated everything about animals and nature, in particular bats and turtles. He had a special place in his heart for all make and model of dog, especially his devoted Rottweiler, Schultz.
Eric is survived by his wife of 24 years, Dianne (Johnson) and their 2 dogs, Duke and Cooper, his daughter, Valerie Leighton (Jeff), his son, Vincent (Tammy) and several nieces, nephews and friends. Services will be private. Compassionate and personal care is being provided to Eric and his family by Jeffrey T. Paul, Director of the Paul Funeral Home of Madison.
