Edward Ivan Reuter1945-2021Edward Ivan Reuter passed away suddenly after a brief illness and is now busy towing chariots out of ditches in Heaven. Ed was born in Summit, New Jersey on April 27th, 1945 to Michael G. and Ruth P. (Hanchett) Reuter. Ed was a graduate of Hamilton Central School class of 1964 and then proudly served his country as a member of the United States Navy during the Vietnam War. Following the Navy he was a journeyman lineman with Local 1249 IBEW and worked on many high voltage transmission projects throughout the Northeast. Ed started his long-lasting towing and auto repair business in the early 1980s of which he continued to present day. Ed was a charter member of the Empire State Towing & Recovery Association where he served as a state representative. He was an honorary member of the Hamilton Fire Department/Fountain Fire Company No. 1 and assisted other fire departments in many ways. Ed was a devoted lover of animals, particularly concerned over the welfare of dogs. Ed is survived by his brother Gregory M. Reuter, Sister-in-Law Linda (Melvin) Reuter, four nieces, Melissa (Reuter) Suszko, Michele (Reuter) Fudge, Melanie (Reuter) Neidhardt, Marilyn (Reuter) Hess, 10 great nieces and nephews, a special friend Elizabeth Gillett, and his best companion, his dog Benny. Ed was predeceased by his younger brother Bryan A. Reuter who passed in 2006. A celebration of Ed's life for all who knew him and loved him will take place in the spring of 2021.
