Dyann Lynn Curtis Obituary

In Loving Memory of Dyann L. Curtis

With profound sadness, we announce the passing of Dyann Lynn Curtis of Morrisville, NY, who left this world on Saturday, March 1st, at the age of 68 after a courageous battle with T-cell prolymphocytic leukemia (T-PLL), a rare and aggressive form of leukemia. Dyann faced her illness with grace and resilience, finding peace in her final days, surrounded by the love of her family. Known affectionately as "Grammy," Dyann was a devoted mother, sister, grandmother, aunt, and friend. She had a heart of gold, always radiating kindness, strength, and an unshakable love for those fortunate enough to know her. Her warmth was boundless, and she made every person she encountered feel valued and deeply loved.

Born on April 11, 1956, in Constableville, NY, Dyann was the daughter of Robert and Jeanette (Wakefield) Dubach. She graduated from Morrisville-Eaton High School in 1975 and went on to attend Bryant & Stratton Business Institute (formerly Central City Business Institute “CCBI”) in Syracuse in 1976. She later continued her education  at SUNY Morrisville in 1982, enrolling in the Paralegal program, where she further developed her sharp mind—one of her greatest trademarks.

A Dedicated Worker with a Fierce Love for Family

Dyann was humble and an incredibly hard worker, often holding two or three jobs at a time to provide for her family, who were her greatest priority. Her dedication and work ethic were unmatched, and along the way, she built many lifelong friendships in the various positions she held. Her career journey led her to several respected workplaces, including: Colgate University, Town and Gown, Inc, Vantine Imaging, The Colgate Inn, Community Memorial Hospital and most recently, she was employed at SUNY Morrisville in the Business Office as part of the Green Thumb Program. Through each of these roles, Dyann left a lasting impact— and was a mentor to many who worked with her.

A Life Full of Creativity, Wit, and Love

Dyann’s talents and interests were as diverse as her vibrant personality. In high school, she showcased her leadership as a member of many clubs including the Principal’s Cabinet, earning even the principal’s signature in her yearbook. She was a certified notary, paralegal, and former member of the Morrisville Fire Department Auxiliary. Dyann enjoyed bowling and the friendships it brought. She was also an avid watcher of PBS documentaries, always eager to learn something new. A true lifelong learner, she had an insatiable curiosity and a deep appreciation for knowledge, constantly expanding her mind. She also had a passion for sewing, often making her own clothes. Adding to her adventurous spirit, she even had her motorcycle license. Dyann was also a woman of remarkable intelligence and creativity. She was a master of Jeopardy, a daily New York Times crossword enthusiast, and a fierce competitor in Wordle—always comparing her scores with loved ones. Her quick wit and spunky personality made her the life of any gathering, and her ability to see the beauty in the smallest details of life was evident in her love for embroidery, and needlework. She had an innovative spirit, always finding unique ways to bring joy to others.

A Life Cherished by Many

Dyann is survived by her three loving children, Jonathan Curtis, Emily Curtis, and Sarah Curtis (Jonathan Dennis), who will carry forward her love, wisdom, and unwavering support. But above all else, Dyann’s greatest joy in life was her two beloved grandchildren, Lennon ("Lemon") and Teagan ("Teagy Weegy") Regner, who were the absolute light of her life. She adored them endlessly, treasuring every moment spent watching them grow. She also shared a special bond with her furry grandbaby, Bubba, who brought her comfort and companionship. She also leaves behind her devoted siblings: Gerald (Cheryl) Dubach, Douglas (Carol) Dubach, Bonnie (Robert) Decker, Garry (Theresa) Dubach, and Gail (Barry) Howard, as well as sister-in-law Mary Dubach. Her love extended beyond family, embracing her many nieces and nephews, along with the countless friends of her children—her “bonus kids”—whom she treated as her own. Dyann’s home and heart were always open, and she had a way of making everyone feel like part of the family. She is now reunited with her beloved brothers, Thomas Dubach and Robert (“Bradley”) Dubach, and her parents Robert and Jeanette (Wakefield) Dubach whom she treasured and missed dearly.
