Douglas E. Kent Obituary

Douglas (Doug) E. Kent, 66, of Bouckville, NY passed away on October 18, 2023 at Community Memorial Hospital following a long battle with COPD.

He was born on February 2, 1957 to James and Jean (Dupre) Kent in Hamilton, NY. Doug was a 1975 graduate of Oriskany Falls High School. Following high school, Doug joined the United States Army and then the Army National Guard, retiring after serving his country for 23 years, including a tour in the Persian Gulf War. Doug was employed by Hamilton College in Clinton, NY, as a painter at the Physical Plant, for 28 years until his retirement.

In 1984, Doug was united in marriage to Laura (Laurie) Hall, a union that lasted 39 years. Together they had 3 children of whom Doug could not have been more proud. Prior to his illness, Doug could usually be found working on some home project, cooking on the grill, hanging out at the pool, or spending time with his family. He especially enjoyed watching his children's sports activities. In later years, Doug could be found watching the Western channel (especially Gunsmoke) and playing poker on the computer.

He will be loved, missed, and remembered by his wife Laura (Laurie), his sons Joshua and Jared Kent, and his daughter Jenna Kent; his sister Linda (Al) Webster, his brother Michael (Lillian) Kent, and his sister Dianna (James) Brockway; his brothers-in-law Ben Hall, Kit (Gloria) Hall, Andy (Debbie) Hall, and Tim (Linda) Hall and his sister-in-law Dianne Frankum.  Doug is also survived by several nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, and cousins.

He was predeceased by his maternal grandparents Arthur and Ruth Dupre, his paternal grandparents Raymond and Dorothy Kent; parents James Kent and Jean and Paul Wilmot; in-laws Erwin (Butch) and Eleanor Hall; his brother-in-law Douglas Frankum, several aunts and uncles, and his beloved Saint Bernard Bella.

In keeping with Doug's wishes there will be no public services. A celebration of Doug's life will be Sunday, November 5th from 1-4 PM at the Kelly Phillips Post American Legion in Oriskany Falls. Internment will be in the Spring at Skinner Cemetery in Vernon Center.  Doug and his family are being provided with personal and professional care by Jeffrey T.
