Douglas L. PlowsBridgewater-Douglas L. Plows, 60, passed away peacefully at his home, with the love and support of his beloved wife, Holly, and his family at his side, of Monday, October 19, 2020, following a lengthy illness.He was born on April 8, 1960, in Utica, the son of Alton Plows Sr. and Betty Burdick Osmett. Doug was a graduate of Edmeston Central School. Following high school, he proudly served in the U.S. Army until 1982. For a while, Doug lived in North Carolina and Florida where he worked at various jobs. Upon returning to New York, he was a long-time employee of Sears/K Mart, where he worked as a Field Service Technician. Later, he worked at A & E Enterprises, where he continued to his career in field maintenance. He went on to work at Percisionmatics in West Winfield, where he worked as a Production Machine Repairman. On August 11, 2009, at the Lake Chalet Camp Grounds in Bridgewater, Doug married Sharon "Holly" Dye, in a renaissance style wedding. He had a passion for barbeque, and was at one time, the proprietor of Shade Tree Bar-B-Que in Bridgewater. Doug was a "big" man, with a "big" heart, he was always willing to give to others, and ask for nothing in return. Holly and the entire family mourn his passing, Doug will be deeply missed by all who loved and cared for him. Doug is survived by his beloved wife Holly, his beloved son Kenneth Hungerford, and his companion Aleesha Donnelly of Unadilla Forks; his father Alton Plows Sr. of West Edmeston; his mother Betty Burdick Osmett and step father, Robert Osmett of Haltom, TX; his beloved grandchildren: Carson Hungerford, Bray Lee Hungerford and Payton Hungerford, all of West Winfield; his brothers Alton (Margo) Plows Jr. of Leonardsville, Allen (Rachel) Hyatt of Saginaw, TX, Jerry (Carrie) Plows of New York Mills and Mike (Tammy) Plows of Brookfield; his sisters Donna (Bill) Mellor of Bastrop, TX and Lynn (Sam) Timian of Waterville; his sisters-in-law: Ernestine (Colie) Manner of West Edmeston, Kathy Smith of West Edmeston and Joan Dye of Bellview, FL; his brother and sister-in-law Albert (Leta) Dye of port Lawaca, TX.; several step brothers; step sisters; nieces; nephews and also special friends Lynn and Lula Laraby of Brookfield. Doug is also survived by his constant canine companion Corky.There will be a visitation for Doug, following the COVID 19 guidelines on Friday, October 23, 2020 from 11 AM until 1PM at the First Baptist Church of Brookfield. Facial Masks will be required. Private family interment service with Military Honors will be at South Brookfield Cemetery, with the Rev. Mark Thall, officiating. Doug's family have entrusted his care to the Paul Funeral Home of Brookfield.
