Douglas J. Mariano
Douglas John Mariano born in Rome, NY July 16, 1947. Doug passed peacefully on February 3, 2025 at Community Memorial Hospital in Hamilton, NY, with loved ones by his side. He was a loving father, grandfather, great-grandfather, husband, son, brother, uncle and friend, known for his great sense of humor and handsome smile. Doug’s family and friends miss him beyond measure.
Doug was a long time resident of Oriskany Falls, NY. He attended Oriskany Falls High School. After graduation, he served his country for six years in the United States Air Force. Upon returning home, he went to work with his family at The Falls Hotel. Doug was known for being an excellent cook, making fabulous pizza and Hot Piggy sausage. He then worked for Oneida Limited for several years and finally at Sherwood/Covidien, where he retired. Doug was very much into fitness and was an avid gardener. He always kept his yard full of beautiful flower gardens.
He was married to his beloved wife of 26 years, Annella (Williams) who predeceased him in 2001. His parents, Alfred and Eileen Mariano, who passed on the same day 2 years apart, predeceased Doug. Just 3 years ago, he lost his brother, Jeff Mariano. His brother-in-laws Jim, Dick and Charlie along with Teri (niece) and Steven (nephew) and his daughter Sharon (Williams) Perez also predeceased him. Sadly, the family has had too many losses.
His son Jim (Betty) Williams, grandchildren Steven Eilers (Jessica) and Sara (Williams) Roback (Chris) and three great grandchildren, who he just adored, survive Doug. Doug is survived by his partner of many years, Audrey Wilcox, five sisters, Ginger Joy, Carolyn Rowan, Janis Bourdeau, Diane Mariano and Cathy Brady, his loving niece Angie Spellicy, and many nieces, nephews and cousins who loved his jokes, smiles and held a special place in his heart.
Doug also leaves his cherished cat Chari, the little “ham.” She will miss her best bud.
Doug's family and friends will gather in May 10, 2025 at 11 AM for graveside services, with Military Honors being held at St. Bernard's Catholic Cemetery in Waterville. There will also be a celebration of Doug's life following the committal service at the Oriskany Falls American Legion Post . Jeffrey T. Paul, Director, of the Paul Funeral Home of Madison, is providing compassionate and personal care to Doug and his family. To offer a condolence, please visit:
