Douglas C. Henty
Knoxboro - Douglas Clarence Henty, age 64, life-long resident of Knoxboro, passed away unexpectedly at Oneida Heath’s Emergency Room following a medical episode on Tuesday, August 29, 2023.
He was born on July 2, 1959, the son of the late Gerald and Mildred Dygert Henty. Doug graduated from Madison Central School. On June 25, 1983, at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Utica, Doug married Judith Ann Guido. He started his career as an auto mechanic at the former Morrisville Motors. Doug later went to work many years as a mechanic for U.S. Materials Handing, later retiring from Madison County Highway Department. He had innate mechanical ability and enjoyed figuring out how things worked, diagnosing many different issues. His wife, daughters, and many others benefited from these skills; building and fixing cars, remodeling their 150 year old home, and woodworking which included customized toy boxes for his granddaughters. He was an avid gardener and loved to create amazing food with homegrown produce, pasta, and cheese. He deeply enjoyed picking berries, gathering eggs, and giving tractor rides to his granddaughters. Doug was an active parishioner of both St. Bernard’s Church of Waterville and St. Joseph’s Church of Oriskany Falls.
Doug is survived by his wife of 40 years, Judy Henty (Guido); daughter and son-in-law Jessica (Henty) and Marc Ridilla; daughter Lisa Henty; sister Debra Heath (Henty) and her husband Ed. He is also survived by his two granddaughters Sophie and Zelda whom he adored, sister-in-law Annette Guido, brother-in-law David R. Guido and his wife Kathleen, and numerous nieces, nephews, and great nieces and nephews.
He is preceded by his mother, Mildred Henty (Dygert); uncle, Frederick Henty; and his brother Fred Putzig.
