Donald R. TurnerEarlville-Donald R. Turner, 88, passed away peacefully at his home with his wife Mary Lousie and his children by his side. Donald R. TurnerHe was born in Solvay, NY on April 11, 1927, the son of Harold and Elizabeth Turner. Don graduated from Sherburne High School and Morrisville Agricultural and Technical College. He proudly served in the Army during World War II. Don married Mary L. Jenne in 1951. They had been married 64 years. Don and Mary worked hard to purchase the farm in 1955 and he was a dedicated active farmer and avid gardener throughout his life. He was a man with a strong work ethic and strong convictions to succeed in his passion for farming and support of his family. He was an active member of the United Church of Christ in Sherburne throughout his entire life. He is survived by his wife Mary Louise, his son Harold of Deansboro, NY, and daughters Carolyn McDonald of St. Charles, IL and Rita Longman of Sherburne, NY. He enjoyed his 10 grandchildren and 3 great grand children. He was predeceased by two infant children Charles and Josephine and his oldest daughter Lynda Farrow.In keeping with Don's wishes, a memorial service will be held on Saturday, January 16, 2016 at 2:00pm at the Sherburne United Church of Christ. In lieu of flowers, a donation could be made to the charity of your choice. Internment will be in the spring at Sherburne West Hill Cemetery.
