Cleveland N. “Cleve” Shoemaker
Madison-Cleveland Neil Shoemaker, 79, passed away peacefully at Upstate University Hospital with the help and support of Hospice, and his loving wife by his side on Saturday, March 22, 2025.
Cleve was a lifelong resident of Bouckville and Madison, having been born in Oneida on December 24, 1945 to Madeline (Bush) Shoemaker and Neil Shoemaker. He was a graduate of Madison Central School and Morrisville State College. He had a long career with Carrier Corporation, G.E. and Lockheed Martin in Syracuse, where he remained employed until his death. In addition to his dedicated working career, Cleve could always find some time to go deer hunting on Crow Hill, stop at his favorite fishing spot, enjoy a round of golf with friends, or just enjoy an afternoon of Syracuse University Sports. He was a devoted husband and father. His grandchildren were the “light” of his life.
Cleve leaves behind his wife, Lauri (Dixon) Shoemaker, his son, William Shoemaker, and his wife JoAnne (Palmer) Shoemaker; and granddaughters, Madeline and Annalee Shoemaker; a stepson, Jacob Tomberlin, and his wife Sara (King) Tomberlin; and grandson, Luke, two granddaughters, Elizabeth and Olivia Tomberlin; a stepdaughter, Sarah (Tomberlin) Deland and her husband Aaron Deland; a grandson Charles DeLand and granddaughter Catherine Deland; his sisters, Elaine Patterelli, Judy Wilson and Rebecca Decker, and her husband Doug Decker. Cleve is also survived by many cousins, nieces and nephews, friends and neighbors.
He was predeceased by his parents Neil and Madeline.
Family and friends are invited to attend a celebration of Cleve’s life to be held at the Hotel Solsville at a date and time to be announced. There will be no formal services.
