Cassandra M. DerbyMadison-Cassandra Marie Derby, 23, became our Heavenly Angel, on Sunday, January 21, 2018, following a car-pedestrian motor vehicle accident in the Town of Colchester.Cassandra was born on September 2, 1994, the daughter of Michelle LaMunion Bishop Derby and William J. Derby, Jr. She grew up in a home of love and was dubbed the nickname, Sissy. She was a graduate of Madison High School Class of 2013. Sissy embraced school and was a great student and loved her life-long high school friends. She had been a Varsity Cheerleader and was active in other school activities. Her whole life, putting others before herself, and was always there to care for the "underdog." Moreover, you knew when she was in your presence, with her contagious smile and uplifting personality. She was currently living in Roscoe, and worked in the dairy industry for Saputo Inc., located in Delhi. Sissy might have lived a distance away, but her heart was always in Madison, deeply rooted in her brothers, fathers, and her grandparents. Sissy's passing leaves much sadness, especially for her mother, Michelle, for as the two, had a deep and loving relationship.Sissy leaves behind her family, whom she dearly loved, she is survived by her mother, Michelle, and step father, Bob G. Bishop, Jr., of Madison; her father, William J. Derby, Jr., of Frankfort; her brothers, Dustin W. Derby and Owyn N. Bishop, both of Madison; her paternal grandparents, Lester E. and Dorothy LaMunion, of Madison; her paternal grandmother, Georgianna M. Anderson, of Schuyler: her boyfriend, Seth Darbee, of Roscoe, numerous aunts; uncles; and cousins. Sissy also leaves numerous life long friends, who were always dear to her heart.Funeral services will be held on Saturday, January 27, 2018, at 3:00 PM, at the Paul Funeral Home of Madison, with the Rev. Mark Thall, Pastor, of the Brookfield First Baptist Church, officiating. Following the funeral service, there will be a "Celebration of Cassandra's Life" to be held at the Kelley-Phillips American Legion Post in Oriskany Falls, all are invited. Interment will be in Stockbridge Cemetery at a later date. Family and friends are invited to attend calling hours on Saturday, from Noon to 3 PM, prior to the funeral service, at the funeral home.
