Carlton D. "Carlie" MaineHamilton-Carlton D. Maine, 68, passed peacefully at his home, surrounded with the love and support, of his devoted wife, Sally, and children, following a courageous battle against cancer.He was born in Hamilton on January 7, 1952, the son of the late Carlton E. and Virginia Dunham Maine. As a young man, Carlie was raised on the Madison family farm. On April 28, 1971, at the Bouckville United Methodist Church, he married his soulmate Sally Lee Davis. Carlie retired from the Town of Madison Highway Department with 20 years of dedicated service as a motor equipment operator. He had also worked as a mechanic for both Steve Bono and Joe Terrier at their Bouckville Auto Repair Shop. He later earned the title as Master Mechanic. Carlie loved John Deere Tractors and anything that was John Deere Green. Carlie was an avid outdoors man and especially enjoyed deer hunting. He was a devoted husband and father, and will be deeply missed by all. He is survived by his beloved wife of 49 years Sally; his daughters Tracy McLain and Carla Maine; his son Dennis McLain; his brother Michael Maine; and his sisters Cathy, Sandy and Fay. Carlie is also survived by his grandchildren; nieces, nephews and close friends.In keeping with Carlie's wishes, there will be no calling hours. Private services will be held in the spring. Interment will be made in Sherburne West Hill Cemetery. Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to the care of the Paul Funeral Home of Madison.
