Bouckville-Beverly J. Shetler, 87, lovingly called Bev, passed away peacefully in her sleep, while her family was at her side with their love.
Bev was born at the family home in Munnsville on March 11, 1935, the daughter of the late Lester and Grace Beatty Chapin. She grew up in Munnsville and was a graduate of Stockbridge Valley School Class of 1954. On September 18, 1954 at the Munnsville Congregational Church, Bev was united in marriage to Charles Shetler. Together they made Munnsville their home and to their wonderful eight children. Charles passed on August 23, 2013, closing a chapter in Bev’s life of a wonderful 59 year blissful marriage. Bev had worked at the Ye Ole Landmark Tavern in Bouckville. She had been previously employed by Marquardt Switches. Bev was always active in the Munnsville Community. She was member of the Munnsville Order of the Eastern Star and the Rebekah Lodge. She served as a Girl Scout Leader for numerous years. She had a love of BINGO, and volunteered at the former Munnsville Bingo Hall. A big sports nut, she was a devoted SU Basket Ball and Green Bay Packers fan. Bev was a loving and caring person; she would volunteer her time at Community Memorial Hospital’s Day Rehab Program. The love and wisdom she gave to her family will never fade.
Bev leaves behind her beloved children: Jim (Teresa) Shetler of Chittenango, Kathy (Ray Brych) Pegg of New York Mills, Patty (Bob) Bennett of Oneida, Don Shetler of Barton , PA, Laurie (Dave) Emmons of Riceville, TN, Annett (Tod Cable) Nichols of Bouckville, and Charlotte Shetler of Oxford. Bev is also survived by numerous beloved grandchildren and great grandchildren.
She predeceased by her beloved husband, Charles, her cherished daughter Susan, her parents Lester and Grace, and her brother Stuart Chapin and Dorothy Chapin.
Graveside funeral services will be held on Friday, November 11, 2022 at 2 PM at the Stockbridge Cemetery. There will be no public calling hours. Family and friends will gather following her funeral on Friday at 5 PM at the Madison American Legion to celebrate Bev’s life, all are invited to attend .
