Betty Jean JohnsonMadison-Betty Jean Johnson, 83, passed away peacefully at her home, surrounded with the love and support of her children on Sunday, October 31, 2021.Betty was born in Oneida, on May 3, 1938, the daughter of the late Lyle and Ann Kula Huntley. Betty was raised in the Oriskany Falls area, and graduated from Oriskany Falls High School as Valedictorian of the Class of 1955. Following high school, she had worked as a key punch operator for Utica Mutual Insurance Company. On October 5, 1957, at St. Joseph's Catholic Church in Oriskany Falls, Betty married Harold M. "Jack" Johnson Jr. Betty was a stay-at-home mom, and also assisted in her husband's business, Johnson's Livestock. Their loving union lasted 45 years, until Jack's passing in 2002. Betty was also known for being very giving, as over the years she had crocheted over 1000 winter hats and just as many blankets. She and her daughter would donate these items to local schools and non-profit groups, including Project Linus and the Special Olympics. She was a parishioner of St. Mary's Catholic Church of Hamilton. Betty had also served her community in various capacities; she was a Cub Scout Den Mother, a Girl Scouts Leader, and a member of the Madison Fire Department Ladies Auxiliary. Betty was devoted to her husband, children, grandchildren, and great grandson and leaves behind a legacy of love and caring.Betty is survived by her beloved and constant companion her daughter, Jacqueline Johnson, her beloved son and daughter-in-law Steven and Donna Johnson, and her special and beloved son Paul Johnson, all of Madison; her cherished grandchildren Shelby Johnson and Alyssa Johnson and her fiancé' Edward Bachorik; her cherished great grandson Landen Bachorik; her brothers and sisters-in-law Robert and Dorothy Huntley of Oneida, Raymond and Cindy Huntley of New Hartford; her brother Richard Huntley of California; her sisters-in-law Shirley Livermore and Elizabeth Moyer, both of Madison; and many nieces, nephews, cousins and close friends. Betty was predeceased by her parents Lyle and Ann; her beloved husband Jack Johnson Jr.;her brothers Donald Huntley and Daniel Huntley; and her brothers-in-law Donald Livermore and Brent Moyer. A special thank you, to her cousin, Nellie Frederick, who was an angel with help and support in Betty's final days. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated for Betty at St. Joseph's Catholic Church, in Oriskany Falls at 12:00 PM, with the Rev. Jason Hage, as Celebrant. There will be no public calling hours. Interment will be in Madison Village Cemetery. Betty's family are in the trusted care of the Paul Funeral Home of Madison.
